We are informed that the custom of this publication is for each correspondent to furnish what is termed a staff biography. We are the King. We do not possess a staff biography; We possess subjects, and they possess Us. We consent to the column solely because We have observed Our meaning to be persistently misreported by persons who were not present and are in no way royal. We shall write upon trade, upon the just and moderate duties by which a kingdom is maintained, and upon the entirely groundless rumour that these duties are borne by anybody here. They are borne by foreigners. We have been assured of this by men whom We appointed for the express purpose of assuring Us. We are advised that We must now conclude. We shall not.
