I am the only correspondent on this staff who is paid, so far as I can determine, to disagree with the remainder of it. I said in Parliament that the colonies had a real grievance and was unpopular for it; I have since said that a revolution acquires an appetite and rarely stops at the first course, and I am unpopular again, which at least argues consistency. I file from London, at a distance my editor calls inconvenient and I call perspective. I do not oppose change. I merely require that it argue its case like everybody else, and I have noticed how very cross that makes people.
