Correspondent on Treasury & Public Credit

I was asked for a short biographical note. I have submitted fifty-one pages, of which this is the abstract, and I regard the abridgement as a personal injury. I arrived in New York with no name, no fortune and no patience, and I have since parted with only one of the three. I write here on funding, on credit, on the assumption of debts, and on any man who imagines the national honour is a thing that can be settled later. My columns run long because the subject is complicated and my critics are not. I am told I take disagreement personally. I take it accurately, which is worse.
